BEST FOOD WORST SERVICE – This is crazy because the food here is soooooooooooo great I can't even believe it but the owners are the WORST EVER as hosts/hostesses. Once I asked for more naan and I was told no, the kitchen was closed and I should have asked earlier. I was also told that they don't make too much because it gets wasted. Best South Indian Grub on the Eastside – I've been coming to Nirvana for the past ten years for their S. Indian grub. I don't come here for the service, the atmosphere, or the North Indian food. It's all about their South Indian specialties! Nirvana is a small, restaurant that seats about twenty-five to thirty customers. Fresh, amazing food – We read all the reviews telling about the husband/wife team and how the food was excellent but the service was the opposite. I can tell you that our experience was that both food and service was excellent. Maybe they read their reviews? For example, there were only two of us, and we were offered a table for four. Best Indian Restaurant that I've been too – Nirvana is a really small restaurant and is operated by an old couple. The wife cooks in the kitchen while the husband serves the food. It's one of the top rated restaurants by us.. the food is extra ordinarily good. It's the only food that I would say comes close to home in India amongst all the places we've been to so far in LA/NY and we've lived here for a very long time!! .. Couldn't say more. – From the reviews, I couldn't say more. We dined here at least two times and have not been back for at least 3 years now. The atmosphere was boring, as far as I can remember, so does the owner and the food. The last stop was when I ordered "Chicken Curry" and it was an 85% water to curry mix ratio, the plate was cold and I thought they accidentally spilled iced water on my curry. My best bet is, just avoid going there overall!
Beyond Poor service – I thought this place would have got their act together by now....this is abymssal. They know how to take a reservation, they just dont know how to hold a reservation. We had to wait a whole hour !!!.. the food is also really bad and the waitress mixed up our food and drink orders.
RUDE!!! – Rude! Rude! Rude! That's all I have to say for these folks. They are cheap and don't know how to talk to the customer. We asked for some containers for the leftovers and they didn't want to give us anymore than 2!!!! On top of that the guy goes, you only come here once a year???? Can you believe this??? I wish I could give them a rating of -10.
