The Elite swim camp at SIU (Carbondale, Illinois) was not very impressive in general. During the practice, the coaches were supervising BOTH the kids from the camp AND SIU swim team, which means they all had to share a swimming pool. I think this was a huge disappointment. They also did not plan well for the rainy days; kids were asked to stay in the building. Kids ended up having too much down time on their own in their dorm room. Mankato’s Nike swim camp is a wonderful experience. Staff was knowledgeable and the underwater film is extremely helpful to correct technique. We would highly recommend this camp!

Great swim camp and just what Charlie needed to get tips on techniques that he was able to put to use right away! I was impressed with his cleaner strokes during timed trials on the final day. He not only learned a lot with the amazing coach/kid ratio, but he had fun, even during dry land on hot days! I wish there was another session to attend in August! We’ll be back next year!
