My mom has had Parkinson's for over 20 years and Dr. Getzel has been the most compassionate doctor she has had over the many years of seeing different neurologists. Dr Getzel takes a complicated case like my mom's and really works with the patient to try to find the best solution based on PATIENT feedback, not what she decides and then dictates. I've had plenty of doctors fail to answer my questions because they were in a hurry; but Dr. Getzel was more than unhelpful; she was outright condescending. My visit with her was a giant waste of time, and a tragic waste of a referral. I still don't have any idea how to treat my condition or keep it from getting worse; and I doubt my insurance will let me repeat the appointment with a different provider.
While Dr. Getzel is clinically capable, she doesn't not display reasonable empathy or sympathy. Her personality was harsh, dismissive and blunt, and she conducted the appointment in a hurried manner. This was challenging for my elderly mother to follow and she felt dismissed, and talked-down to. She also had to be pressed for clear conclusions and next steps, not providing medical leadership or recommendations for treatment or care.
Dr. Licking/Goetzel is AMAZING! She is personable, caring, and one of those rare specialty-doctors that still seems like a "real person" (sorry Dr's, it's true!) She took the time to listen carefully, and really explored more than just what I went in for. I'm sad that someone else leaving a review didn't have a good experience with her, maybe a bad day? Regardless, I would send every family member or friend to her. She's a gem!
Dr. licking went above & beyond to help when I ran out of my prescription after work hours. She has always been very polite & professional.
