House of horrors. My dad passed away from neglect in the Belcarra neighborhood. He was only there 5 months. My Voice and concerns were ignored. My heart hurts for the vulnerable residents stuck in Belcarra. He spent his last week in the Chinook neighborhood after my pleads to get him out of Belcarra and they were wonderful. It felt like a different building completely. But it was too late. He spent the last 11 days of his life in Royal Columbian hospital where he was treated with the dignity he deserved. Have a friend in bldg 2 and while most of the nurses and care aids try to do a good job there is often one nurse for all 3 floors and people have to wait for their medications. There are often arguments with patient about the vitamins she takes and why she is taking them. Proper medical supplies are often lacking and the nurses have to just make do with what they have. It is very disconcerting to hear what is happening on a regular basis since I am a retired nurse and know how difficult it can be when short staffed.
Staff working here is not nice. When I visit my loved one the staff don't smile and also talk to me rudely when I ask them a question. Sometimes when I go into the section where I'm visiting the whole floor just stinks like urine and poo. Do they not have good ventilation? How can the staff not care about the smell and thinks it's ok to smell like that for days?
