Get directionsCould not have been a worst 18-hour experience. Filthy facility, staff from the highest to lowest on the hierarchy who do everything they can to not make eye contact with the patients. No room checks, my roommate was in a grave condition waiting (for 3 days) for a hospital room and I had to go find staff to assist her while she was in pain, dying of thirst, etc. I came in to simply have ascites drained, as standard procedure that can be done in-office, for which my doctor had put in an order. Didn’t wait long even though it was a weekend. Organized check in and kind and efficient staff with instructions for after care and follow up. I felt trust in my care.
Compassionate and extremely capable staff. Your visit will take several hours - this is a New York City emergency room we are not in the suburbs. Plan accordingly and make sure you give the staff the respect they deserve.
Wish I could give 0 stars. I’ve come here twice for a crohn’s flare and both times were horrific. The first time I left after 16 hrs even though I was in pain. This visit I stayed and it took 4 days to get a bed upstairs. I had to fight to be put in the ER overflow, as I am immunocompromised. My main complaint is how the nursing staff treat the patients.
