I and others in the area who take care of seniors are very concerned about Hoag, is not the hospital it used to be. This is not the premier hospital that it used to be. I’ve had multiple relatives here and the amount of near death mistakes made by hospital staff has been frightening and frustrating. Almost all of the staff in the hospital seems to be fresh out of school and don’t seem to have the life experience or knowledge to catch these issues or advocate for patients. I was admitted for gallstones 8/3 stayed until 6/7 I was on the 7th floor room 31 and all I have to say is thank you to all the doctors, surgeons, nurses , cnas but most importantly I want to give a special shoutout to my nurse Cara and Veronica they were amazing with me my whole stay and such professional and amazing nurses.

While this is a niche post, I wanted to reassure others who are Gluten Free that Hoag Newport is able to accommodate. When I first checked in to labor & delivery, I had just a regular menu and just made guesses based off the provided menu (fruit, cottage cheese, jello, etc.). Once I moved into postpartum/recovery, the team made sure that I had access to gluten free options. Each day, the cafeteria team would send over a menu for the next day and have me circle my choices. I was admitted in the Hoag Hospital on Wednesday afternoon around 2 PM.
