I had my first appointment at New York Blood and Cancer Institute in East Islip, and initially, my experience was great. The PA I saw was very kind, took the time to explain everything thoroughly, and recommended that I return for an iron infusion. I felt comfortable and informed after that visit. However, my experience during my first iron infusion was completely different. The nurse assisting me did not introduce herself and was chewing gum while speaking to me, which I found unprofessional.
