Beware of Dr. Suen I had a very bad experience with him. He didn't even bother to read my ultrasound report and when I asked about the follow up testing the ultrasound report recommended he blew me off and said it wasn't necessary (it was definitely warranted and I learned later would have been standard practice for my scenario). I recently had surgery at the New West Surgical Centre, and I couldn’t be happier with the care I received! Taryn and Lorraine, my operating nurses, were fantastic—they kept me calm and even had me laughing and singing before the procedure. After the surgery, Vanessa was right by my side, making sure I had exactly the right amount of medication to stay comfortable. And Ellie? I had surgery at your clinic yesterday. The surgeon, the anesthesiologist, and the rest of the staff were all very kind and professional. However, the first nurse I met — the one who was supposed to ask me general questions such as what surgeries I’ve had before and other medical information — was extremely rude and angry. She made me feel very uncomfortable, especially because I was already in a very poor physical and emotional condition, as I had undergone another surgery just three weeks ago. Body shaming O.R. nurse. Everyone else at this clinic was wonderful from the staff who greet you, to my dr and all the other nurses. However, the nurse we had in the O.R. for my procedure body shamed me in front of my dr and x-ray tech, about the body hair on my low back. I will be emailing a formal complaint. This woman is a health care professional and it’s WILD she would think that to comment on my body hair was appropriate. Especially a person who is in pain and having needles put in her back & spine.
