Delicious sushi!!! – Excellent sushi! Reasonable prices! Good service. Nice atmosphere Relaxing music. BYOB I am a huge sushi/sashimi lover, and New Tokyo has been my favorite place for the past 4 years! I've tried many different places in Lakeview/Lincoln area for sushi, yet I keep coming back to my neighborhoody New Tokyo. Can't help it! Too good to pass... Spicy Sake Crunch, Spicy Tekka - Mmmmmm!!!!!... Picking up some sushi on my way home..... :)
Great maki(rolls) in Chicago!! – I stop by at this place many times and never get upset with the food. They have the best sweet potato roll, spicy unagi roll, red spider, and so on. If you have time, I would recommend you to eat at this place, but if you want rush food, I won?t recommend you to go there. The food service is kind of slow during peak time. Do not go to this place! – Do not go to this place. Customer Service is an unknown concept here. The hostess treated us very badly as she was not happy with a 15% tip. I could not believe that she would question a 15% tip and behave so badly with a regular customer. The food is average and ambiance is well below average. They run a membership program where they give you a discount on future visits. But, they expect you to pay that discount back as tip or else you are in for a showdown .... Amazing Teriyaki – So yeah this place might advertise to have great sushi, and I love their sushi but really their teriyaki dishes is where its at. They have the best teriyaki in the city, I love their chicken teriyaki (ask for white meat) and the seafood teriyaki. However, lately they've been skimping on the portions and it is kind of pricey. slow service – This is a good sushi restaurant, but has slow service, it would take 15-20 mins for your food to come. The restaurant is small, tables are so close together, we felt so cramped. If they can improve length of time you have to wait for food and if they can expand a little bit more, i would recommend this place. but not until then,there are other great sushi restaurants in chicago that has good food and fast service.
Found an insect in our food! – My husband and I have been to this place many times and have always been satisfied but after our last experience we will NEVER return to New Tokyo . We literally found a dead pest in our sushi . We informed the waitress and she removed the plate with the creature and expected us to continue to dine . Needless to say, we were so put off we just got up and left . What a huge disappointment.
Cheap, good sushi...ok service – I thought this place was very inexpensive, plus its BYOB with no corkage fee...you cant beat it. It was packed when I went there, not an open table available. The service was not very good but I wasnt in a hurry so it didnt matter. I loved the food and the price was definitely right. I will definitely go back. Its not amazing but definitely worth a cheap night out.
stay away from this place! – Poor quality of sushi, poor service and expensive- nothing good to say! With so many other great sushi selections in this neighborhhod, there is no reason to waste your money here.
Marketing – I love this place, it is located in the heart of boystown, in a very small store front. There are only about 10 tables in the restaurant and if you don't like sitting close to your neighbor then this might not be the place for you. The food is incredible, I love the variety of rolls and the size. The rolls come in portions that you are not overwhelmed by the size when you put them in your mouth. The best part part about the restaurant is that is very inexpensive, two people can eat and be satisfied for about $20.... read more
