RecommendedMy husband and I own SRD Contracting and have been working alongside New South Associates doing cultural resource management with heavy equipment. We have really enjoyed the opportunity to be involved in historical conservation alongside their group of very accomplished and educated archeologists.
Sarah Lowry and Maeve Herrick did a great job a few months back using the GPR unit to check an area of the Bethany Church cemetery in Gulf, NC. The tradition was that several coal miners were buried there together after an explosion in the nearby Egypt mine. The church was happy to know that there were indeed multiple unmarked burials in the area, and will likely be placing a memorial marker there this year as part of the church's 150 year celebration. Many thanks to Sarah and Maeve for their help and a fascinating report.
