Follow up to a previous review - we purchased a home earlier this year via an assumption mortgage through Newrez. Approximately 6 weeks after closing on the home, we were notified by our insurance company that they were going to drop us because Newrez had not paid them. It took at least 3-4 separate calls to Newrez to get them to transfer the loan into our name, not the name of the people we had purchased the home from, and to take the people we bought the home from off of the accounts. If you ever have an option of using this company, please do not. We had a fire And they're withholding our checks, requesting that we provide waiver of lean for companies that did not do work. We did the work ourselves. They even asked me to filled-out a waiver of lien. The companies that gave us proposals never even heard of such a thing. The company Provided duct cleaning said they never filled-out a waiver of lean in the entire time of being in business. They had a consult their attorney. The worst if you have a fire they figure out ways to retain the funding keeping your money, so they can make interest. Smart business practice.

In our case we are not upset with their ridicules counter offer (to refinance the original loan) which we were upfront with them that we were NOT interested in. What’s upsetting is, it took them almost a month to give us an answer reassuring us along the way that our application is moving along. Doesn’t matter if approved or denied the answer shouldn’t take that long, it was a waist of our time.
