My friends and I rented this "jazz cruise" thinking it would make a lovely memory of our time in New Orleans, however, it did everything but that. They advertise it as a sunset ride with nice jazz performances throughout, quality dinner, etc. but it's not worth the cost AT ALL. The jazz band played for a solid 30 min while boarding the ship, then stopped until the last 15 min of the ride. seating was extremely limited so we had to watch them from a tiny TV screen inside the enclosed bar area on the boat. It was an unwelcome surprise that the dinner is buffet style. Given the heavy tourist attraction I’d say 200 dollars to eat other people’s poo is a bit excessive.
The river part is nice. The part where you pay 100 dollars for a dinner that’s touched by the other 200 guests also eating dinner is a great way to spread diseases, not a great way to run a business. To be clear I’m commenting on the fact that the food is served buffet style, so I have to trust that the 200 guests who have been walking the streets of the French quarter all day somehow paused to wash their hands before digging into the food. “Prison Slop with a Side of River Views” If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be served lunch at 10:45 in the morning, this is the cruise for you. We booked the 12:15 second sitting but were told there was only one, so we were marched straight to a table like naughty schoolchildren headed for detention. By 10:45, trays of what I can only assume was prison slop were unceremoniously plonked in front of us.
