Attended the Japanese Woodworking Festival 2025 and stayed for the japanese joinery course. It was the best woodworking class/event i even been to and definitely worth the time. Fellow attendees, speakers were all so happy to share knowledge, answer questions and the hands on instruction/practice for sharpening were transformative for me. I got to learn from renown woodworkers like Jason Ren, Jay Van Ardsdate, Dorian Brecht, and Jim Blauvelt, just to name a few.
I had a great experience here. I attended the beginning Japanese timber frame workshop in March of 2025, and we constructed a garden shed. Jason was a great instructor and I ended up learning a lot about Japanese woodworking and met some great people in the process. Would highly recommend.
Jason really knows how to put on a show with all the fixings. Tons of knowledge and honing of blades as well as skill in a truly experience based workshop. I highly recommend anyone who is a woodworker to spend time with Jason and learn from him.
Jason Fox is a kind, open, and extremely skilled woodworker as well as instructor. He showed myself and others patience, compassion, and unwavering support through a high stakes Japanese timber framing course all the while with a great sense of humor and kind spirit. I had a terrific experience at the four day Winter Logging and Timber Preparation workshop. I learned an incredible amount of valuable information, we enjoyed terrific food, and everything was well organized to maximize our experience. Jason made himself available for all manner of questions and information sharing, before, during, and after the workshop. I'm excited to see how this space develops and look forward to returning in the future.
