Terrible bed side manner. Rude and will dismiss you if you have questions and get upset if you call him out. People that don’t take accountability and blame everyone else, I don’t have respect for. I recommend finding another neurologist.

My mother has Medi-cal and our options for her care are limited. This is a clinic type of setting. Dr. Shay confirmed for us that my mother had beginning stages of Alzheimer’s as we had suspected. He prescribed her medication which has helped so I am grateful for that. If you have the means to see another Neurologist, I would go that route.

This doctor doesn’t want to work. He didn’t ask me many questions and quickly attributed chronic headaches and other symptoms I’ve had for years to stress. Another doctor has since given me a real neurological condition as a potential diagnosis after asking very simple questions. Night and day.

We had a poor experience with Dr Shey. He was dismissive and talked down to us. He kept saying there was nothing wrong with my husband. Who has since been tested extensively and diagnosed with early Alzheimer’s by the Doctors at Hoag. Don’t waste your time with this Doctor, keep looking for someone who really cares!

When I initially brought my husband in, to see Dr Shey, I expressed that I had concerns about my husband’s lapsing memory. He performed a crude memory test (not done properly), and informed me that, if he had Alzheimer’s, he would not have remembered the three words he had given to my husband.
