Navopache Electric Cooperative came into being in 1946 when people of the White Mountains banded together to form their own electric cooperative and provide electric service to their homes and businesses. The electric cooperative has continually expanded from a few miles of power lines in the Lakeside area to a service area of almost 10,000 square miles in eastern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico. I have been a Navopache Electric Co-Op customer for 2 years since moving to Show Low from the Tucson, AZ area. In those 2 years, I have only experienced 2 outages. Furthermore, power was restored for these outages in less than one half hour. These results are far better than I have ever experienced with any other provider of electricity service. I’ve lived in this area since 2017 and I have never seen so many “random” outages as I have on this mountain. It’s mind blowing that we are this technology advanced and can’t figure out how to stop random power outages for no reason. On 6/9/25 at 5 am the power went out. It now 6 am and still no power. It is s beautiful windless morning. I swear 3rd world countries have better power grids than this mountain will ever have.
Eyewitnesses Sparks and a large explosion coming from the power lines behind my house it's 7:00 on Friday. I know they're closed but I'm trying to report this to them just in case ,I've been trying for an hour, I don't want to bother 911. I don't believe this is very efficient. luckily, I'm an ex firefighter and I put out the small smoldering ashes.
I believe North Korea has a more stable power grid than Navopache Electric. At home I am serviced by APS. Almost zero issues in 11 years. Just down the road at my office I'm serviced by Navopache Electric. Constant power outages, power surges, power flickers on and off. Thinking about having a line installed from Mexico, even they seem to have a more stable grid than this outfit. What a joke!!! 11 years here and nothing has changed. I just moved up to the area to help my grandparents with their needs as they are a bit older. What I find absolutely disgusting is that I’ve been out of power since 7:30 am YESTERDAY, and still no power currently at 4am. Also, no call to tell us when things are fixed. Luckily it’s the end of winter. Current temp in house is 44 degrees with candles and flashlights to illuminate our home
