I had a psych emergency a few years ago that culminated in me voluntarily going to the psych unit at Huntington Hospital. I was a teenager at this time and Dr. Francisco Navarro advised my parents to not pick me up from the hospital and leave me in the psych unit longer so as to “create a lasting impression”. This resulted in me staying much longer and ultimately being assaulted by an older male in the unit. Today I still suffer with PTSD from the incident.
