More Whop-Whop Than Danger Zone Showed up expecting Top Gun vibes—jets tearing down the runway, sonic booms, aviators slow-walking into the sunset. What I got instead? Helicopters. So many helicopters. It’s less “Danger Zone” and more “Whop-whop-whop until your teeth rattle.” One guy swears it’s still the best thing going—“Nothing like watching a Seahawk lift off while the bay glitters at sunrise. Just excellent! Great access to the beach, super nice staff, clean nice room with kitchen, adequate breakfast, and lots to do on the base! Very happy!
I've been on a boat the USS California ex coast guard for touring around the island and I saw a lot of f-a/18s and ospreys and Seahawks so amazing seeing this naval station and where they filmed top gun maverick
