Tried to fax a form to them but the number did not answer. Then called them but there was on one there to answer the phone. A recorded message said it was to "due to circumstances beyond their control."
My experience at the National Personnel Records Center was wonderful. I began researching both of my grandfathers. One served in World War II, and the other served in the Army during the Mexican Border War. Both passed away before I was born. The staff at the center was extremely helpful, including emailing me before my visit, and we’ve continued to correspond since. It’s an incredible resource, and I’m looking forward to my next visit.
Tried to access my deceased relative records. Got a reply but then the US system (I.D. me) does not seem to accept UK passport and/or photgraphic ID (Driving Licence). Disappointing. I'm sure that this must happen loads of times. My relative has been dead over 20 years!
I had an absolutely wonderful experience working in the archival research center at NARA St. Louis. Everyone was incredibly knowledgeable, and their expertise is second to none. I say that as an academic librarian with an archival background, so I don’t offer that praise lightly! Their research assistance and recommendations were excellent.
