My wife and I drove an hour and a half to the closest National Bank branch to resolve an issue with our account. When we arrived the teller was immediately available and greeted us with a smile and professional demeanour. We informed the teller that we wanted to close our account that was dormant for over a year but administration charges were still being applied. I have booked appointment for 15th July (2 weeks ago) and I took a day off because I worked in Montreal. I got called 30min prior appointment saying we need to cancel it. Worst people and bank.
It's time for an updated review. When the area manager noticed that I had downgraded my review earlier this year he reached out to me to apologize. He was genuinely concerned to hear about our experience and even provided himself as a contact for any future issues. I have since reached out to my new contact for help in opening a new account. He arranged for an advisor to contact us for a video call in order to streamline the application process. She was excellent, making the process as quick and easy as it could possibly be.... read more
My original review (see below) was for 5* but, since then, this branch has lost Mary as its manager and I haven't been able to find anyone to replace her. I have also discovered that National Bank has some very strange (and irritating) procedures. For example, when I transferred funds in-branch to another National Bank customer I was told I could not have a deposit receipt. This was worrying and, in my opinion, should be a breach of banking rules. The only advantage to using National Bank is that their fees can be much lower... read more
They stop transactions at 4pm. Open to 5 for appointments only. Not open on weekends either. Who is their demographic? Not people with jobs .
