Understand that it’s a red “danger” flag, but the fact that you cannot get in the water but others can be on their surfboards is ridiculous. Should I bring some pool floaties next time?
Visited the Dam Neck beach today with my grandkids. Walking out to the beach I noticed that a lot of the wooden handrails are rotten and falling apart. One gave away when I was using it to go up the stairs from the beach and almost caused me to fall. I say this, because I currently have to use a cane due to injury from last Fall. Thankfully it held enough but the next person may not be so fortunate. Is base maintenance responsible for these?
Very convenient for us to utilize the beach. It would be great if shower amenities were available. 2-stars because of your base security guards. I’m not the type who needs to be saluted to feel valid, but a few of them need to review that salutes are given out of respect for the rank whether active duty or retired. Choose your rate, choose your fate. Salutes are rendered accordingly. It’s a boldface checklist item, and not an advisory.
The beach is great, but they let dogs on it and the dogs shit where people are, which is a biohazard. I read a review about dogs in grocery stores now, and the reviewer said, "dogs are the new smokers." That seems to be the case. Update: went there last weekend, June 20, 2025 and a dog shit right at the bottom of the stairs over the dune then shit again right where kids play.
