Was my first time trying one of these gem Mines and couldn't have been more happy. This was a great spot as we had been visiting the Nantahala outdoor center which is awesome too. Friendly and helpful staff, my friend and I did 1x 5 gallon buck each and both of us found a good assortment of quartz, citrine, amethyst and rose, smokey and milky...even better we found small emeralds and I found my first small nc ruby and sapphire. Awesome for rockhounds and collectors. Will definitely be back to try again!

Place had no water but yet sold buckets to try and wash the stones/rocks with mud. Absolute bummer of an experience. If there’s no access to water or electricity then close early to avoid disappointing customers.

So much to do here! Mt. bike rentals, rafting, kayaking, relaxing by the river and watching people float by. Plenty of places to eat, get an ice cream or beer! They have a general store and convenience store. The A/T comes right down into the NOC so always some hikers to talk about the trail with.

All the way from Fort Lauderdale FL and we had a great time. The man who runs it took his time at the end to let us know what we have and what's good and what's not. We will be back next year! Great little gem!
