I had such a great experience at Mustays Braiding. They truly provided me with a luxury service at a very reasonable price. They didn’t just braid… they genuinely took care of my hair. The wash was incredibly thorough, and the blow dry was done with so much care. They paid attention to every little detail, and my braids came out flawless. This was, unfortunately, the most disappointing experience I’ve had at Mustay’s Braiding Place. I booked my appointment online, and upon arrival, I was greeted by a woman—seemingly of Indian descent—who appeared completely unfamiliar with how to properly wash, treat, and, most noticeably, blow dry my hair. I called this salon to ask for a basic protective style, single braids without added hair and was told they don’t offer that style for adults. (fyi they offer this style for men and children). As a Black woman looking for natural, healthy options that support hair retention and growth, I found this disappointing. It’s frustrating that a salon claiming to cater to Black hair doesn’t offer simple protective styles that many of us rely on for maintaining our natural hair.
