They took a $375 deposit from us to repair our chimney cap. Nothing was done and not responding to our calls.
Ron came and looked at my chimney and gave me an estimate. He said they only accepted cash or check as their reputation was "everything". Against better judgement I wrote a check so he could purchase supplies and that was the start of a 3 month nightmare of lies and broken promises. In the end, Ron stole my money, never completed work, never purchased supplies, and overall was terrible to deal with. I can't caution you enough, stay away!
These guys are the best! I used Murphy's for a firebox repair, chimney cap replacement, and a sweep. Phillip was excellent with communication, and the two gentlemen who performed the work were highly skilled, very genuine, nice guys. They were honest, and did not try up-selling me on anything. Five stars!
Philip and Ron cleaned and treated our fireplaces and put chimney caps on the 2 chimneys. They were polite, efficient, and took the time to explain what they found both inside and on the outside of the chimneys. I was already a satisfied customer and when an inspection for our home insurance claimed there was creosote build up based on a dark stain on the chimney stack, I contacted Philip to see how I should tackle this. My chimney was in horrible condition with broken bricks, crumbling mortar, and missing flashing, when my roofer recommended that I call Murphy's. Murphy's team was able to grind out/replace the bad mortar and save most of the bricks. The bricks that were beyond saving were cut out and replaced which is much less expensive than tearing it down and rebuilding it. I appreciate that they worked hard to save me money.
