My husband and I went bike shopping for our family on Friday 9/11. Our first stop was Joe’s Bike Shop on Broadway in Baltimore. The man there was absolutely rude, racially profiling us for no other reason than being Black. He kept stating you have to purchase a bike to come into his store and refused to let us in the store or to even bring bikes to the door. Friendly staff and crazy fast work. The atmosphere was totally welcoming which was refreshing because I am fat and black: bike shops are notoriously ugly to both types of people. This place wins just in kindness.
I brought an old junker I recently acquired to Joe that wasn't in riding shape. Admittedly, I don't know a lot about bike service so I have always deferred to the mechanic for my needs. My last bike was a very simple, streamlined, single speed set up that was very lightweight. But that was stolen when our house was robbed. Then the pandemic hit and I lost my job. Joe and his staff are awesome! I was in yesterday looking for a hybrid and the staff took their time to explain brands, and even put a bike together for me so I could find my correct sizing. They even have a sense of humor. One of the employees was wearing a mask with the store logo that read something like "I'm not shopping, I'm here to rob you" They know bikes can be expensive lol. Anyway, the shop is cozy and authentic. Customer service is important to me and the staff did a wonderful job! Definitely recommend!
Although Joe's was out of bikes the people there were extremely nice and helpful. If you're looking for great service and smiles. I would recommend Joe's!
