Dr. Carl was great before and after my procedure in mid-April. Nice guy and so easy to talk to about all health issues. His nurse Joei, is also awesome
I met with Dr. Calica for the first time yesterday. My appointment was a same-day consultation for groin and abdominal pain. I really liked the front office staff and the wait time was minimal. Dr. Calica’s nurse Audra was incredibly nice and comforting. After going over my medical history, I waited less than a minute to see the doctor. His demeanor was very pleasant, but the visit was very rushed—as a new patient I spent less than 5 minutes in the exam room and I felt like I had to beg the doctor for additional time. Dr Calica is an excellent surgeon. Too bad his staff doesn't match his ability. His staff is condescending, difficult to communicate with and seems to deliberately block communication. Surgical patients have enough anxiety without unaccommodating nursing staff. Angela Optimum healthcare at Nuvance (Putnam) hospital. The OR nursing staff is superb. The office staff at Optum is not.
This review is long overdue. Dr Calica successfully removed a large malignant metastic melanoma thereby saving my life. He kept it totally contained so that no cancerous cells escaped. That was a few years ago and to date I am cancer free. In addition, he is a kind and caring person with an excellent bedside manner. Highly recommended!
