When your parent can no longer care for themselves, and you realize you simply don't have the resources to keep them safe, you realize that it's time to find a place for them. I felt guilt, anger and frustration that I was letting mom down. We toured many facilities in Central Oregon and finally settled on Mt. Bachelor. Please be sure to thoroughly review all feedback before considering this facility. While it may initially seem impressive, our experience suggests otherwise. Recently, I was seeking assistance for my relative due to a lack of staff attention. While searching for help, I observed two employees—a Caucasian female with black hair and bangs, and an African American male with an afro—entering what appeared to be a spa or washroom together. I had my father at Mt Bachelor Assisted Living for over 2 years, and visited him 4-5 times a week, so I spent a lot of time there. The facility itself is newer, so impressive compared to others in Bend. There is a core staff of 6 caregivers who were wonderful, but getting to know them, they were unhappy with the management. They stayed because they cared about the residents, and I truly appreciated them. Other caregivers came and went with high turnover.
