UPDATE: IT'S PERMANENTLY CLOSED NOW. , This is a great place for lunches in downtown Elgin... I've had dinner here too. It's clean, the menu is extensive, and the food is good. Prices, are fair, and they have great daily lunch specials. I can't speak concerning the alcoholic drinks, but they seem well stocked. The staff are friendly, the music is traditional, not too loud. Beware!! The cooks and management at Mr. Tequilas in Elgin are the worst!! The gave me cactus with the thorns still on it! It injured my mouth and all the manager did was try and offer me a free beer!! Worst restaurant in Elgin!!
RIP Mr. Tequila's Learned today April 27, 2015 that my favorite Taco Tuesday place is permanently closing. Thank you for two+ years of good service and good food. I am so very sorry that you had to leave us.

I frequent this restaurant. It is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Elgin. Margaritas are huge, guacamole and salsa is made fresh, Cynthia and Alex are great hosts. Recommend!
