I had a 50 amp generator inlet installed with an interlock kit for my breaker box, and a whole-home surge protector. The tech first installed a 14-50r as an inlet, which is dangerous and would require the use of a "suicide cord", and is against code. I let the tech know the inlet should be a ss2-50p and it was promptly replaced. Everything else went smoothly though, and I'm happy that I'm set incase my power goes out.
