A fully independent garage open to the public. We work on all makes of cars, light commercial and PSV vehicles. We formerly operated as Chestnut Road Garage owned by Chris Dobson. As a bus company Mountain Goat have operated in Windermere since 1972, and we have run our garage operation, open to all, since 2016. MOT Lane (Class 4 & 7) on site.

Mountain Goat Garage literally came to our rescue today whilst on our family holidays. Having been badly let down by the RAC we found that we faced a £550 bill to recover our son's car from Windermere to Manchester. Calling in to Mountain Goat they arranged to get the spare parts in that lunchtime and had the vehicle revovered to their garage and fixed within 3 hours. My son can now travel home safely and we can enjoy the remainder of our holidays. Many thanks for your excellent service. Phil
Car developed worrying noises when steering, halfway through our week long Lakes holiday. Rang these guys on the strength of the great google reviews and they told me to drop it off 8.30am the next day and they'd sneak it in. Few hours later they rang me with the diagnosis. Girl on reception got the mechanic to see me who explained that i had slightly worn struts and springs - he understood my concern that i had my children in the car and he assured me that the parts were fine for the rest of the holiday and my journey home ... read more
Staff are very friendly and professional
My partner has taken her car to this garage who has diagnosed it wrong both times and have charged her £120+ for looking at it and have said the total opposite problem to what it’s been… be aware of these overpriced scammers who have cowboys working for them!!!
I went on the Ten Lake Tour. Our driver was Patrick. Very chatty and knowledgeable. We had plenty of stops for toilet breaks and photo opportunities. We weren’t rushed. Beautiful scenery. Unforeseen road block, but Patrick was unfazed and soon got us back on track. Very well organised tour, would go on another one. Elliott in the office, is very organised, knowledgeable about the Lake District and has a good sense of humour. Excellent all round
