The company known today as Mountain Fuels began in 1923 when Bernard R. Peters became what was known in those days as a consignee for Texas Oil Company, known today as Texaco. In the 1960's Mr. Peters passed away and his widow sold the company to Walter Peeney Sr., who in turn sold it to his son-in-law, J. Patrick Hickey Jr., who continued to operate the company as a Texaco distributor under the name B.R. Peters Inc. After being a customer of Mountain Fuels for many years, I came to the painful (and expensive) conclusion that I could not trust them to maintain my home heating system. Because my house has a long run of hot water for heating passing through unheated spaces, it contains antifreeze. Although I had inquired about the need to add antifreeze, I was told I didn’t need to have any more added.
