Very nice restaurant in the park. It is not at the summit and visitor center. It is the stop before the summit. Food was sandwiches and salads. A little overpriced but in line with most park restaurants. Order food at kiosk and get your own drinks. Food is brought to your table. It was hot and fresh! Dining area has a view of the mountains. Worth a stop. Plenty of parking.
Great spot to catch a bite to eat and a beautiful view. The staff were very kind and patient with my older parents and knowledgeable about the park and the beautiful building. The windows overlook the blue ridge mountains from nearly 6,000 feet in an old growth balsam fir forest. Don’t expect big city options, but if you make the trek out to the park on a Thursday through a Sunday (while the parkway is still limited access) you’ll be glad you stopped in. Went up to the restaurant with a few friends recently and were blown away by how delicious the food was. We each got burgers and fries, and even though we didn't have the variety between us, we all shared the same delicious flavor of the food. It was cooked really well, and was very tasty. The view was wonderful as always, and the staff was outstanding. We love going up to Mount Mitchell and stopping at the restaurant, and plan to do so for many years to come. First of all this restaurant has a wonderful view and used to have decent food and good service. We visited 4 years ago and were pleased. However apparently things have changed for a lot worse. Today went up mount Mitchell and came at the restaurant about 11am, it’s opening time. There was a line at the door of about 10 people. At the door they took everyone’s orders, paid, and seated at a table. There no more than 20 people in total seated in the huge room. Most of the tables around got their food.
