The food is awful I got babaqu sandwich and coleslaw slaw baroque was the frozen kind just warmed up had a cup of sauce to put on it dont.try it the cold slaw I couldn't even eat it meal was like 13 dollars I guess I thought the barbarian would come up there.from a local place then warmed up but the frozen kind u get in a.box at grocery store my husband wanted to go for his.birthday if was very pretty inside looking out big windows also order a piece of cheese cake and ask waitress to bring out later to surprise my husband f... read more

Very nice restaurant in the park. It is not at the summit and visitor center. It is the stop before the summit. Food was sandwiches and salads. A little overpriced but in line with most park restaurants. Order food at kiosk and get your own drinks. Food is brought to your table. It was hot and fresh! Dining area has a view of the mountains. Worth a stop. Plenty of parking.

Great spot to catch a bite to eat and a beautiful view. The staff were very kind and patient with my older parents and knowledgeable about the park and the beautiful building. The windows overlook the blue ridge mountains from nearly 6,000 feet in an old growth balsam fir forest. Don’t expect big city options, but if you make the trek out to the park on a Thursday through a Sunday (while the parkway is still limited access) you’ll be glad you stopped in. Went up to the restaurant with a few friends recently and were blown away by how delicious the food was. We each got burgers and fries, and even though we didn't have the variety between us, we all shared the same delicious flavor of the food. It was cooked really well, and was very tasty. The view was wonderful as always, and the staff was outstanding. We love going up to Mount Mitchell and stopping at the restaurant, and plan to do so for many years to come. Thank you for offering this service.
