My encounter with Fred, a pioneer in electrophysiology, left me with mixed feelings. While undoubtedly a great scientist in his field, his towering ego and assumption that my problems were commonplace proved detrimental to my well-being. I do not understand how this man has a 5 star rating. I was told by his staff that he specialized in treating POTs patients only to show up to the appointment ( that I had to wait 6 months for ) only for him to come into the room and scoff at me, and say “I don’t know who told you that.” Throughout the entire appointment he wanted to debate and belittle me about what medications I take, don’t take, my heart monitor, and for not wearing compression socks outside in hot weather.
