these people are good people they have removed the shirt and wrote the letter and i apciate them for doingthat and there are good people and a good store
The owners of Moon River exhibit their ignorance, stupity and lack of sensitivity in ordering merchandise that is offensive and blatently racist in nature and intent. BOYCOTT.
You get 5 stars for RACISM....your store and the COMPANY distributing these shirts needs to be put to a halt!!! ASAP!!
It has been brought to the attention of the people that this store sells a racist shirt that insults the natives of the Americas. No matter how much money is made from the shirt, it does not cover the cost to loss of dignity and pain caused by this action. The store owner refuses to stop selling the item and feels it is not the problem of the store if damage is done to the life of the natives. Demand justice and removal of the shirt!!! How long will we allow profit over people?
On MLK Day several AIM Santa Barbara members went into this store and found that they sell Native RACIST T-SHIRTS! Yes, Racism is alive and well in this little corner of the world. I recommend boycotting this store until they decide they will pull the shirts from the shelves forever and write the requested letter of apology on their letterhead to AIM Santa Barbara. They should be aware that the internet is a very successful way to wage war on such in-digressions!
This store sells t-shirts with racist logos and phrases. I will never shop in this store again. I went shopping while on vacation and am appalled that this store is still in business. If this store was in my home town they would not be in business long, that kind of blatant racism is just not tolerated, but I guess in California racism is just one persons point of view...tolerated by all and ignored like that is what helps solve everything...turn a blind eye to it because it is not happening to you........YET!
A few of us participated in the Martin Luther King March that on Monday January 17, 2011. So interesting enough we came across a store called MOON RIVER 708 State Street in Santa Barbara. This Asian lady (who refused to give me her name) at the counter stated she was the owner and currently is selling a shirt that reads "my indian name is runs with beer." We explained how this was a racist shirt that demaned Native people and perpetuated negative stereotypes. She became more and more upset while laughing at us and our positi... read more
The shirts that you are selling in your store is disgusting and makes me sick. You need to remove those shirts from your store immediately. This is very offensive not only to me but to all my native brother and sisters as well. What gives you a right to sell something that slanders the true american people? How would you feel if someone made money from racist jokes against your people? Wheres your respect? There is no comedy in racism. Stop fueling the fire with stupidity and remove those shirts from your store!
Racism is bad for business, as Moon River's weekly receipts are about to show. One thoughtless, careless decision can sink even a thriving business... and some glorified t-shirt shop that sells tasteless racist products deserves to go under. There's enough racism and intolerance going around without advertising it on clothing. Boycott Moon River.
