I hate to day this because I'm from MTL. But I travel all over the world and this airport is the worst ever. Lines everywhere! Plan for it.
Never take the sedan limos here - costs $20 more than a cab, no one uses them so the drivers have no clue how to get around the city.
If you're taking the 747 bus from the city to the airport, make sure you have exact change and no paper/plastic, coins only!

If you are staying on a weekend, buy the SMT 3-day pass for $18 for unlimited rides on the Metro & 747 bus Friday-Sunday. One way ride on 747 cost $10, so the 3-day pass is a better deal !!!
Put your gels and aerosols in a plastic bag. They're pickier about hair gel, shaving cream, etc.
