The fossil pit is amazing! I’d highly recommend for anyone to visit! Any age can enjoy. You definitely want to bring a hammer and pick. Something to sit on is nice too, such as a piece of foam or even cardboard. You can easily spend 2-3 hrs here digging! It was my first time fossil hunting and I was able to find plenty!
Bring water, sun screen and patience. We found lots of fossil shells in less than 2 hours. We did have hammers and other tools to split the rocks. Personally, I would give it 5 stars but the others with me were not as impressed. It is free too!
It was nice. Found a lot of fossils without even digging. Many people must miss them or not know what they're looking for because while waiting for my family, I was sitting and glancing through the loose stuff by my feet and finding fossils one right after another. The restroom is down the road, but there is a nice picnic area by the restroom.
