I don't know who the idiot was that got the idea for taking out the center turn lanes. Not only are they hard to see at night with oncoming headlights. But the sheer number of near collisions making u-turns should have given you a clue. You have the ones that can't make a u-turn in a single path and have to back up. Then adding two u-turns to go to a store on the way home is now extremely inconvenient.
