The Molkery was built in 1888 by Baron Walter von Richthofen as part of his promotion of the town of Montclair as a classy suburb and health spa. Tuberculosis patients on the upper floor drank fresh milk from the cows in the barn below and breathed the barnyard fumes. I had the privilege of serving as a wedding photographer at the Montclair Civic Center recently (pictures below, check them out!) and found the experience to be entirely positive in regard to the venue itself as well as coordinating with the venue management.
