My husband and I rode our motorcycle to Natchez for a few days together. We stayed at the beautiful Monmouth Inn in the John Quitman house. The room was beautiful, clean, and roomy. The staff was excellent. Shout out to Michael who helped us order an amazing dinner from Restaurant 1818 and had it delivered to our room. The breakfast in the garden room was phenomenal. We had the best time. My only tip for motorcycle riders staying here is the drive is gravel. It can be a little tricky but worth it for sure.
We love staying at Antebellum homes when traveling to Florida. This one was so nice. The grounds are perfectly kept. We didn't stay in the main house but in a cottage next to the house. Staff was very nice and friendly. We had made reservations for dinner in the dining room. It was beautiful. The food was absolutely wonderful. The weight person was so helpful and polite and took the time to talk to us about everything. I would highly recommend staying there if you get a chance to do so. The rooms are spacious and historic (some will call this shabby) unfortunately our room had no fridge. The included breakfast is basic but damn the grits are delicious. The restaurant in the hotel is pricey but the food is good. Careful with the drive up in your Prius you’ll get stuck in a rut.
We stayed in the Pond Cottage 2-bedroom suite and unfortunately had such a poor experience that we ended up paying for both Monmouth and a second hotel in Natchez because we could not stay the night. The “2-bedroom suite” layout was very misleading for three adults. The second bedroom was accessed through the main bedroom, making it awkward for privacy and much better suited for parents traveling with young children. Got married here 20 years ago. It was wonderful/amazing/top of the line great!! Twenty years later it’s definitely rundown and not being kept up. Need four wheel drive to get up to the main house. The service was great. The food delicious!! The room they gave us was the problem. Bathroom sinks wobbly, stained ceilings, even the door lock was loose. Definitely not kept up.
