Monk's was founded January 2001. Voted one of Sarasota's Best Raw Bars, we offer the finest Raw Oysters, as well as other fantastic shellfish appetizers. Our Oysters Monkefellas are quickly becoming one of the most popular items in Sarasota and nationally. Try our new 2 lb. Jumbo Shrimp steamed with garlic butter and old bay seasoning, it's fast becoming a new favorite. We also offer Mussels, Littleneck Clams, Peel-N-Eat Shrimp, Snow Crab Legs and Crawfish.

So perfect Monk Steamer bar is one of a kind. It is a plaza area with a good night crowd with a few other places to go venture out to. The drinks and shots are great and never skimpy. The food is amazing, the menu is written up on the blackboard and the food is steamed right there in front of you. Always fresh and fast. Mussels and Crab legs are great there!

User review by aldridge04 – They flat out have the best oysters in Sarasota. They also have shrimp, clams, mussels, crawfish, and crab legs. They serve beer, wine, and liquor. Smoking is allowed. Great atmosphere, especially if you have a sense of humor.
