You can never find out anything because they never answer the phone
Almost got stuck with a $1400 DMV fine because the car I sold to Ducote a year ago was never filed as scrap. DMV lady said he never fills out necessary paperwork when I explained my situatuon; he also couldn't be bothered to return two or three voicemails I left asking after a copy of the bill of sale. Luckily, I was able to prove the error in the DMV's system when I canceled my plates online and pull insurance records to get the fine revoked, but absolutely terrible experience overall.
