Moishe's Bake Shop is an institution in the East Village, and it is hard for most people who pass by the window not to go in and nosh on something. This little kosher bakery is also the only one left downtown that bakes its own goods right on the premises. Baked delights such as hamentashen, rugelach and mandelbrot just to name a few are to be found in this little nostalgic nod to what the East Village was like post WWII, before all the hipsters, trendy bars and bistros moved in.

Just coming to this FB page is making me crave one of their poppyseed hamantash not to mention the heavenly pumpernickel... OMG, it's like eating dessert. After that, you go over a block to Gem Spa and get one of those egg creams! Your life is compete.
Not only are the baked goods sublime. The owner took his wares to feed the rescue workers at the recent LES building collapse. Hats off to an iconic institution!
It's the cakes and cookies from my childhood!
