I can’t recommend Modern Domestic enough! Their staff is incredibly knowledgeable and always so helpful. The store itself is beautiful—filled with an inspiring selection of fabrics, tools, and everything a sewist could dream of. So glad a place like this exists in Portland! It's one of my favorite places to shop for apparel fabric and get advice on my projects. The staff are so lovely and helpful. When I come in wearing something made with fabric I bought there, they recognize it!
Entire experience was nice. They offer good quality fabrics, I went for garment fabric and they had what I was looking for. Staff is incredibly nice, answered all my questions and then some. There was a kids class going on in the back and I thought that was cool. Love this place! Highly recommend!
I took the Sew Basics class at Modern Domestic a few months ago. And after three more classes, my life has become the plot of “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.” I’m the mouse, and Modern Domestic is the cookie! Chloe and Rachel have been excellent teachers—they guided me from day one through threading a machine, cutting fabric, following a pattern, and today I’m working independently on my first quilt.
