The quality has gone down over the years as well as the cleanliness. There are flies flying on your food as the workers are making it. The employees are touching your food with their hands and then touching the register and everything else without washing their hands. The place is dirty.

I usually go to River Road Hot Bagels, but decided to try Modern. From the moment you walk in, it feels like you’re an inconvenience to the ppl working there. The person who helped me wasn’t friendly - rolled their eyes, got the order wrong, forgot to include things - and made it seem like I was in the wrong for giving them a friendly reminder. The BEC on a roll is just mediocre. The actual bagel (w/ butter) is decent. Food aside, the service and attitude of the staff here is a major turnoff. Normally I’d chalk it up to them... read more

I ordered 5 dozen bagels this morning before driving down south for 12 hours, to have some bagels in our southern home. I will say the staff was super nice. But - Every dozen was not only “not a bakers dozen”, we were shorted a bagel in each dozen. So, I’m either 5 or 10 bagels short (if this place does a bakers dozen.) I’d like a response from the business and a credit towards our purchase. Super disappointing.

These are the best bagels I’ve ever had. Jersey Bagels are top notch. I visit my friend and her family mostly to stop by and get Modern Bagel Cafe
