Mode X is a hidden gem in Beavercreek. Phenomenal food and an upscale atmosphere. Our server Martin did a great job. One thing to note is meal pacing- this is fine dining pacing if you order multiple courses, so be sure to save time if you want to enjoy the entire experience. Went for a classic steak and eggs and asked for the steak medium. What showed up was medium-rare at best—stringy, tough, and completely lacking any seasoning or flavor. Just a bland piece of meat. The eggs themselves were cooked fine, nothing special but at least edible. No salt or pepper anywhere on the table, which didn’t help the already under-seasoned steak. Service was another issue. We ordered the shrimp risotto and the rigatoni with vodka sauce and chicken. The risotto is the best I've had in a long time, perfectly cooked, as were the shrimp, and packed with flavor. On the other hand, the pasta was delicious, though quite spicy, just like the side tortilla soup. It was so delicious that we forgot to take pictures!
