Went to Birdcage. Atmosphere was terrific. Had a hood time.
I went with a group for dinner & drinks. Mockingbird has an easy-to-use free parking lot (not all restaurants in Belmont provide off-street parking!), a gorgeous indoor & outdoor seating environment, and our server was so friendly and helpful. Our drinks, appetizers (fried green tomatoes, okra, pork belly), and desserts were all delicious! The only aspect of our experience that was hit-or-miss was the mains. Redneck egg rolls and fried okra?! Such an amazing fusion of southern food and new tastes in my mouth. Pasta with crunchy wrap skin and brisket, pot roast with mushrooms and gravy and beans...to-do-for-biscuits (the pepper jam FTW) plus a lovely waitress who was so patient from Los Angeles, thanks for the amazing experience!
We went here with very high hopes after reading other reviews. When we arrived, the host barely acknowledged we were standing there. After we were seated we waited 15-20 minutes before anyone came to the table. I ordered the pork which came out raw in the middle. Not slightly rare, but actually dangerous to eat. I mentioned this and they took the same piece of pork back to the kitchen to recook, which came back out though and overcooked looking like a mess.
