These people are pirates, plain and simple. They charge exhorbitant amounts for emergency transportation simply because they can (the law regulating charges to emergency patients don’t apply to transportation). After my child was in an accident INOVA called them to transport him to Baltimore for specialized treatment. I didn’t get a choice. The MMT ambulance staff honestly did not give me a lot of confidence -they seemed like they’d had a few beers— but at least they got him there. Bill: almost $4,000. Run from them.
