MiTio mislead me in that they described their program as a 6-8 week, yet, they do not provide enough live sessions to finish in that time. It will take more like 10-14 weeks to finish. The course is outdated in various ways, yet remains fluid in its approach to educating future interpreters. I would recommend doing it in person through a college or university. There is very little feedback in this program as well, meaning nobody grades work and often the work from other participants is minimal.
I believe this program is no where near acceptable to become a certified medical interpreter. The materials in the program were very outdated, the quizzes were only 4-5 questions long, and there was no internship to speak of. The live sessions were a joke, useless, repetitive sessions with the same info over and over again.
Great program I learned a lot and now I have a lot of opportunities to apply my knowledge in the interpreting field.
I have many good things to tell about this course in MiTio. I found MiTio after doing a thorough online review for medical interpretation courses and I can only tell you that I do not regret having chosen this course. The course is very detailed in different aspects, studying listening and watching videos, practicing in classes with other colleagues. Just completed this great course and want to thank Dr. Lee and her staff for providing this course. Besides of the material, which covered this subject extensively, the easy access to management and staff was incredible. Afterall, this course is about communication between doctor and patient and what better way than to lead by example....kudos
The training was very informative! They provide excellent live practice sessions that give you the assurance and confidence needed for success. Dr. Nelva Lee is a very inspiring and professional person. She responds quickly to questions in a very professional and courteous way. I am very happy that I found mitio and I highly recommend it.
