I was in Bairnsdale for a professional course, travelled alone, chose Mitchel Tavern for proximity to Bairnsdale hospital, very convenient location, rooms are clean, nice restaurant in the main floor, provided nice dinner, staff is friendly, but they requested a copy of my ID and Credit card, like paper copy to be in file, which was strange. Rooms are outdated. But great value for money.

Very disappointing the menu has been dumbed down to a basic bar menu and the staff were very disorganised and not trained very well. I think there has been a major change in the kitchen and it has ruined what was our go to place for dinning with friends. I feel a bit embarrassed for telling friends how good the food and menu was , to arrive and find a very ordinary experience on offer
