I stayed at the Mitcham Sleep Centre a few days ago. While it's not the greatest being wired up all night, overall the experience was just fine. Tom looked after me, he was caring and attentive and the admission process was smooth. I had my own room with a king single bed, tv and reverse cycle aircon. Due to the extremely rough clean on my skin (they used a type of sandy paper to rub my skin), it’s left an open wound on my face near my eye, and 3 big blisters on one of my legs and removed the top layer of my skin on the other leg, both on the areas they cleaned.

Last year I stayed overnight for a sleep study, an update from a bit over 10 years ago. The rooms were much more hospital-like than 10 years ago. The window wouldn’t open and there was no doona, only a single something slightly thicker than a sheet. I couldn’t sleep and left around 4am to go home to my own bed. I won’t be returning. Staff were nice but didn’t understand me when I was trying to explain that the sleep conditions were simply too different for me.

I was concerned by the historical reviews relating to this facility ahead of my visit last might and am pleased to say my experience was very positive. I think you have to remember this is a medical facility and they have to deal with a number of patients with different challenges every night. The admission process was smooth and it was not long before the sensors were applied. There are many and it does take some time to feel comfortable moving around in bed.
