About the most useless "Ministry" there is. They can't enforce any laws, nor will they put any company on Consumer Beware List as long as the company replies to them. No matter what the details of the case are. Their phone agent had a very poor attitude and outright unprofessional at some points. Incompetent to a painful degree. This Ministry needs reform.

Unfortunately this ministry is a toothless tiger. They don't have any authority over the businesses by law. There is no protection for any consumer in Ontario and anyone can scam you of money in the name of renovation autobody works etc etc. Go to small claims court and wait for 2 years before you get a decision. Getting paid is next to impossible if someone scams you in Ontario.

First of all, Please update your location/address as 222 Jarvis St. It wasted my time, parking fees when I reached at 393 University Ave. The office is no more there. Security guard sent me on 20th Floor at Law Chamber office. Had to wait there for more than 30 min before I could talk to a front desk person. They are unable to authenticate a lawyer. Finally I arrived at 222 Jarvis St. Ministry of Government and Consumer services office. Reps are very nice, polite, quick and welcoming.

I do my best to be empathetic, so I understand working for the government is not easy -- especially during the last 3 years with COVID. But since starting my business in 2021, I have had nothing but frustration when dealing with this department. I've had to fight for my business name (rejected due to carelessness and nonsensical reasons), dealt with rude and unhelpful phone reps and wasted months going back and forth looking for help to obtain their new company key and change my business address with no adequate response.
